Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use the BurrBean coffee-tracking app and BurrBean Journal. BurrBean is an independent project operated by Hasan and is currently intended for users in the United States. By using BurrBean, you agree to these terms.

Using BurrBean

BurrBean helps people record coffee beans, equipment, recipes, dial-in settings, tasting notes, and related experiences. You may use the service only in compliance with applicable law and these terms.

You must be at least 13 years old to use BurrBean. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use it only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Your account

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your password and email account, and activity performed through your account. Tell me promptly at support@burrbean.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your contributions

You keep ownership of content you submit, including photos, bean information, recipes, settings, ratings, and notes. You give BurrBean a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and share that content as needed to operate, improve, and promote BurrBean. This license ends when your content is deleted, except where it has been shared with others, incorporated into the community catalog, or retained in de-identified backups for a limited period.

You may submit only content that you have the right to use. Community contributions may be public. Do not post private information, unlawful material, misleading claims, malware, harassment, spam, or content that infringes another person’s rights.

Acceptable use

Do not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, scrape or access it in an abusive automated manner, probe for vulnerabilities, impersonate someone else, manipulate ratings or engagement, or use BurrBean to harm another person. Reasonable use of ordinary search engines and accessibility tools is allowed.

Coffee information is not professional advice

BurrBean contains personal experiences and community-contributed information, not guarantees or professional advice. Results vary by coffee, equipment, water, technique, and individual circumstances. Use appropriate care around hot water, steam, electricity, grinders, and other equipment, and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.

Affiliate links and editorial independence

Some journal links may earn BurrBean a commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. Relevant financial relationships will be disclosed near the recommendation. Affiliate compensation does not guarantee a positive review, and you are responsible for evaluating whether a product is right for you.

Third-party services

BurrBean may link to or rely on third-party services. Their products, availability, content, and privacy practices are controlled by those providers. BurrBean is not responsible for third-party services and does not endorse a third party merely by linking to it.

BurrBean content and trademarks

Except for user contributions and third-party material, the BurrBean site, journal, branding, design, and original content belong to BurrBean’s operator and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may link to public pages and quote short portions with attribution, but may not republish substantial content or use BurrBean branding in a way that suggests sponsorship or affiliation without permission.

Service availability and account action

BurrBean may change, suspend, or discontinue features and cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Access or content may be limited or removed when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, legal rights, or these terms. You may stop using BurrBean at any time and may request account deletion by emailing support@burrbean.com.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the extent permitted by law, BurrBean is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the extent permitted by law, BurrBean’s operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, lost profits, or harm resulting from reliance on community content or use of third-party products. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms as BurrBean develops. The effective date above will be revised. Material changes may also be announced through the service or by email when appropriate. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept them; if you do not agree, stop using the service.

Please contact support@burrbean.com first so I can try to resolve questions or disputes informally. Applicable consumer-protection rights remain unaffected.
