How I test and write

BurrBean is my personal coffee journal. I write about beans I brew, equipment I use, and coffee shops I visit. My preferences are part of every review, so I try to show the recipe and circumstances behind an opinion rather than present taste as a universal verdict.

Brewing notes

When I describe a dial-in, I record the coffee, roast date when available, dose, yield, time, grinder setting, temperature, equipment, and the changes I made between shots. I separate measurements from tasting observations and say when a result is only a starting point.

Reviews and recommendations

I identify what I personally tried and avoid rating products or coffees I have not used. A recommendation reflects my experience, the use case, and the date of the review. Prices, availability, and products can change, so readers should confirm current details with the seller.

Research and sources

For technical claims, I prefer original documentation, research, manufacturers, and clearly identified specialists. Sources are linked near the relevant claim. Personal tasting notes and travel observations are identified as my own experience.
